Description
UPGRADED version: Engine sensors wiring harness 7-pole for connection to the engine block sensors in the Peugeot 205 GTI / CTI and the 205 Gentry. For all types from approximately October / November 1987 onwards. This was the beginning of phase 1.5 followed later by phase 2.
Used on the following engine blocks, among others:
- 1.6 litre XU5JA (B6D) and XU5J1 (180Z / 180A)
- 1.9 litre DKZ (XU9JAZ), D6B (XU9JA) and DFZ (XU9J1)
The 3-pole motor sensor harness for the Peugeot 205 phase 1 you will find here.
Dimensions and plug
The wiring harness has the original dimensions but is fitted with a modern waterproof and sealed 7-pin male connector from the Junior Timer range.
We supply the corresponding 7-pin female mating connector, including cable lugs (7+2 extra) and seals and insulation cap.
For strength and to prevent corrosion and short circuits, each connection between copper conductor and cable lug is finished with heat shrink tubing or a seal. This is our standard operating procedure at SKS. We also use a slightly thicker diameter for the copper cores. Our wiring harnesses therefore have an extra long and reliable service life.
Rather manufactured with the old original brown 7-pin male plug? This is no longer available, if you can send us the plug we can make it for you. Then order here.
Common faults caused by wear and tear of the sensor wiring harness
The engine sensor wiring harness is almost always severely worn in 205s. The following faults are common due to wear and tear on this wiring harness:
- Poor or no starting ability
- Pointers in the instrument panel not working or working sporadically
- Dashboard meters displaying anomalous values
- Failing sensor warning lights such as oil pressure alarm, coolant temperature alarm or alternator charge alarm light
The pictures below show the condition in which we usually find the engine sensors wiring harnesses in the Peugeot 205.
Location and connection of engine sensor wiring harness
The engine sensor harness connects to a 7-pin brown female mating plug. Under the air masseter, you will find this plug. All types from October/November 1987 onwards have this plug. You can check if your 205 GTI has this plug, just to be sure. We supply the new improved waterproof matching female plug. You can mount it there in the place of the brown plug.
You can choose to order the appropriate crimping pliers with which to attach the cable connectors to the cores.
